So, we made a pretty major change/update this morning - something we've been working on for a few weeks, and we wanted to draw your attention to it real quick.
SUBSCRIPTIONSWhen you joined the site, you were automatically "friended" by Mikey, RevMitcz (myself), and MusicPlusTV. In addition, you were automatically subscribed to our blogs, and to the M+ Development blog. We did this so you could get used to the idea of subscribing and see how it worked. Also, it's helpful for you to know what's up in the world of M+ in regards to development.
Problem was that after a little while, people became annoyed with and generally ignored any/all blog update messages in their inbox. This is understandable - the M+ blog updates usually several times a day, and not everyone's interested in reading all of that.
So, we looked for another way to do updates that wasn't so bothersome and time-consuming for the end user. Furthermore, we wanted an easy way for you to actually subscribe to more than just another user's blog. To that end, we've introduced content subscriptions. Signing up to be subscribed to a user's content is the same as it always was - just click "Subscribe to My Content" on a user's profile or blog page and voila!
What's cool now, however, is we've dedicated a whole new page for you to look at when someone you're subscribed to adds new content. It's that
subscriptions link in the header. From there, you can view a given user's recently uploaded content, browse through all content from a given user, cancel your subscription to that user's content outright, and if you're not interested in viewing their latest content for a given day - just hit "Mark all as 'viewed'" and you'll clear out subscription alerts for that user. We think you'll find the system pretty straightforward and easy to use, but as always - drop us a line if you're having troubles or have further questions.
SUBSCRIBERSWe know people love to know how well their content is doing, and who's viewing what, so we've also got another page for you to look at and smile about - the
subscribers page. Here, you can see all the people who have subscribed to you. Moreover, you can see which of them are friends, and which are not. You can even block certain people from receiving an update when you add new content to your profile. Just in case there's a lurker you'd prefer weren't lurking you ;)
Soon, we'll have a site-wide, content-dependent, customizable blocking system in place, but this is just the first part of that.
Anyway, we hope you'll enjoy the new features, and I think you're gonna be excited for the next few things we're rolling out. It's all uber-secret stuff right now, of course, but it's gonna give those other guys a real run for their money.
